"Existing Landscape"

"A liquid society cannot maintain its shape in the long term. It is in a phase of constant modernization, an endless series of changes,
in a process of reforming the environment and oneself. Fluidity is socially ubiquitous – volatility, indefiniteness, transience and relativism.
Liquidity is also a sensual visualization of permanent movement, temporariness, dispersion and decay"

"Liquid modernity" is a term created by Zygmunt Bauman. As the author explained, modernity has stoped being interested in change,
which is supposed to work out a new, more enlightened world, while the speed and speed of change is treated as a value in itself.
"Liquid modernity is characterized by the individual's sense of uncertainty about the contingency of beings, fragmentation and episodicity"The "Existing Landscape" project is a freeze-frame, an attempt to create a portrait of the constantly changing landscape of the present day. Variable, unstable, unpredictable reality. I was looking for forms indicating the ephemeral quality characteristic of the present moment. I combined fragments of photographs and drawings manually and digitally, subjected them to deconstruction and manipulation. While working, I tried to improvise, to act intuitively, pay attention to accident and mistake. The concept of reduction, repetition, disappearance, fragmentation has become a metaphor of alienation in the world, which is increasingly connected by media and, on the other hand, becoming more and more distant. The process of building an image based on the relationship between what was, and what is left, evokes the concepts of volatility and transience. The exhibition was supplemented with a selection of works from the last three series and press illustrations, advertisements that have been created over the years.

The project was implemented under the Scholarship of the Marshal of the Podlaskie Voivodeship in the field of artistic creativity for 2023.
